Education
& Events Committee
MEETS 1ST TUESDAY OF EACH MONTH
The work of the Education & Events Committee focuses on
a fundamental component to the mission of the U.S. Green
Building Council - education. We seek to deliver relevant
information on all aspects of green building design and
sustainable development to the broadest extent possible in our
community, to transform the construction industry in our
regional marketplace to help achieve a sustainable built
environment.
Primarily through a series of monthly programs, committee
member’s work together to develop and produce informative
presentations from recognized experts covering a range of
sustainability issues. From the philosophical to the
practical, we strive to produce programs from different
perspectives, through a variety of formats, that expand the
understanding and acceptance of green building practices
within our community.
Our members are professionals with full-time jobs who share
a passion for advocacy of sustainable design. The development
of monthly programs offers opportunities for personal
satisfaction as well as collaboration with fellow committee
members. We seek to enjoy the creative process and discover
new insights that will result in meaningful contributions to
the community and promote the mission of the Chapter.
Volunteer Skills:
The Education & Events Committee seeks active
participation from individuals who desire to communicate the
meaning of sustainable development to a wider audience. Fresh
ideas on program topics are always needed, as well as
innovative ways to get the message across. Our working process
tends to be collaborative during the planning process, with
one or two committee members taking on the logistical phase of
the many coordination details necessary to see each program
through to a successful conclusion.
For more information on this committee, please attend our next
meeting or contact a committee chair.
